Aziz, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of Aspedan Advanced Solutions, is on a mission to take the guesswork out of discounting for e-commerce merchants.
Aspedan’s flagship product, Discount Prime, is an AI-powered tool designed for Shopify merchants. It allows sellers to automate complex discount strategies—like bulk pricing, flash sales, and targeted promotions—without writing a single line of code.
But the vision goes far beyond that.
“We’re building a full AI-enhanced platform that uses real business data to optimize pricing,” Aziz explains. “From inventory and expiry dates to sales velocity and seasonal trends, we want to help merchants increase profitability—starting with Shopify, then expanding globally.”
Launching in Canada: A New Market, A New Playbook
Expanding into Canada’s tech ecosystem presented new challenges. From incorporation and tax structures to compliance and customer behavior, the learning curve was steep.
“Everything was unfamiliar at first—especially legal processes, banking systems, and understanding North American customer expectations,” Aziz shares.
Financing was another area of adjustment.
“We were used to business development, but venture capital in Canada is its own language. Learning how to present KPIs, projections, and traction to local investors has been a critical step.”
How Global Startups Accelerated Aspedan’s Growth
Aspedan joined Global Startups, a Toronto-based accelerator, to fast-track its market entry and scale in Canada. Here’s how the program made a difference:
1. Real-World Exposure and Market Access
Aspedan joined the City of Toronto delegation to Web Summit Vancouver, gaining access to 100+ investors, founders, and ecosystem leaders across Canada.
2. Technical Infrastructure to Scale
Through an introduction to OVHcloud, Aspedan received over $14,000 CAD in cloud credits, giving them a reliable and cost-effective backend to grow confidently.
3. Local Presence and Collaboration
Shared office space in Toronto enabled the team to host in-person meetings and build relationships within the Canadian business community.
4. Sales Presentation and Pitch Coaching
As Aspedan prepares to grow the company in Canada, participation in pitch competitions—like Global Startups’ Annual Conference—is helping them refine their story, highlight traction, and connect with early adopters of their technology.
Building the Future of Smart Discounting
From Iran to Canada, and from Shopify apps to intelligent pricing platforms, Aspedan is redefining discount strategies through AI and automation. The company is building a global future where data meets strategy, and e-commerce growth becomes predictable and scalable.
