Thank you for closing the year with us!

Thank you

Thank you very much for attending ‘Growing Tech Companies in North America 2021’ on Thursday last week. Ending the year in a high note, we were pleased to have more than 450 registrations from more than 50 countries around the world!

Here are the biggest takeaways from the event:

Yuri Navarro, on the Startup Visa Program requirement:

“We’re looking for ambitious entrepreneurs with global businesses. We’re looking for companies that have a bit of runway as well. Understanding that one of the things that the companies are going to come here for is fundraising, we want to make sure that they have the chance to get landed and execute that initial soft-landing before raising rounds. We want to give them time to establish their credibility in the marketplace. These things are important to us.”

Ozan Isinak, on the advice from an angel investor to international startups:

“Not every market is made the same. You need to make sure that your business model first fits the Canadian marketplace. This isn’t a copy and paste of business model – it takes a little time. Speak to your investors and local investors, and keep an open mind. People think that it is easy to do business in Canada – it’s is very difficult to break into those circles.”
