“It’s like me going to college again, even though I’ve been running a business for the last 11 years. But I’ve learned a lot of things, like how to do it in North America properly, I’m sure this experience is going to help me, you know, further down the line.”

Gaurav Chauhan, Co-Founder of KonarkPro

Founders Gaurav Chauhan and Amit Kumar Pandey identified time tracking and remote team management challenges in 2020 which led to the inception of the KonarkPro software.

Amidst the new normal, KonarkPro were introduced to the remote work culture and the hurdles that came with it. Low productivity, imbalanced work hours, and micromanagement were big trouble for companies at the beginning of the pandemic.

These challenges came as an opportunity, and the idea behind KonarkPro sparked. They designed and developed KonarkPro as a tool that would make hybrid & remote team management easy. The results were astonishing as aggregate team productivity boosted, and more work hours could be recorded.

They chose Toronto to set the headquarters of their newly introduced company for many reasons that directly benefit the growth of KonarkPro. It has one of North America’s most diverse and multicultural populations. It hosts North America’s third largest tech hub which encourages healthy competition. Gaurav and Amit also considered the favorable conditions to raise a family and direct flights to anywhere in the world, to make the decision to set up shop in this city.

A year after Gaurav landed in LatAm Startups Startup Visa Program he has already developed a robust product to launch into the Canadian market having Toronto as a starting point to scale globally. In the beginning he had several options to choose to start growing his business, but eventually decided to go with LatAm Startups.

“I was looking at which incubator to go with the first Startup Visa program. I was already accepted in four or five incubators, and it was a tough choice to choose, but the way the whole program was structured, I inclined towards LatAm. I also, when I was researching about Startup Visa program, I saw a video from a Brazilian journalist and she had good things to say about LatAm.”

For Gaurav, the social proof and the fact that the programs were completely based in Toronto was key in deciding to undertake the program: “…And then that’s when I saw, okay, this is very structured. They’re based in Toronto. They’re gonna help me in soft landing. I came here to do my stage two in October last year, and then my confidence, you know, really strand there from that point. And talking to all the alumni and all, the whole experience has been great.”

In the near future KonarkPro plans to expand business in North America to fulfill their strategy goals for 2023 and beyond, by getting exposure to new customer segments, and motivating growth by taking part in various acceleration programs that are currently happening in Toronto.

It is important to state that through the City of Toronto’s support, LatAm Startups has been able to provide programming that assists not only KonarkPro, but all of the startups in our portfolio.
