The global powersports market size is set to hit USD 12.75 billion by 2027, being the biggest market the US, Jaime knew setting up shop close to the States was key. “Toronto definitely gives a lot of advantages to our business, because it’s very well located. It’s in the same time zone as most of North America and the same time zone as Latin America. So it’s very convenient. It’s just a five hour flight to Colombia (where Jaime is from).”
He also knew that as a newcomer to Canada he needed all the support he could possibly get from a trusted organization. “I got in contact with LatAm Startups last summer around June (2022), and I immediately fell in love with the idea of having an accelerator exclusively dedicated for this type of entrepreneurs, because one thing is starting a company in your home country and another thing is starting a company in a country that you don’t know.”
Jaime enrolled for the NEA (Newcomer Entrepreneur Accelerator) Program in September 2022. Bike2Web is now one of seven graduated companies of the second cohort of the program. A new cohort is starting in mid September 2023 and applications are open until September 4.
“I think the experience has been amazing and I definitely recommend it for other newcomers or for other people looking to immigrate to Canada as entrepreneurs. I think LatAm Startups is definitely the way to go.”
