Global Startups supports early tech founders with practical pathways to grow sales, prepare for investment, and expand into new markets.
Global Startups is a strategic growth partner for early tech founders with traction. Since 2016, we have supported over 340 startups building in Canada and expanding into new markets.
Originally launched as LatAm Startups, the organization evolved into Global Startups to reflect the growth of a broader community of founders from emerging markets around the world. Many founders in the community have been in Canada for years, while others are newly established. All operate at pre-seed and seed stages, often building their second, third, or fourth company.
We work closely with federal, provincial, and local partners across the ecosystem while maintaining an independent model. Less than 20 percent of our revenue comes from government sources. Global Startups is a non profit corporation, and program fees are reinvested into salaries, space, and increasing the capacity of our programs.
Our approach is practical and execution focused. Founders work on real priorities such as revenue growth, partnerships, and positioning, with direct support and access to the broader ecosystem. Our strongest sectors include agricultural technology, foodtech, biotech, and cleantech.
In 2024, GSA Ventures was launched as a sister company of Global Startups. It is a venture firm raising a 2.5 million dollar fund to invest in companies emerging from the community.
Today, Global Startups reflects a diverse founder base, with 52 percent of founders coming from Latin American backgrounds and 27 percent of companies led by women.
The board is composed of experienced investors and corporate leaders across Canada, Brazil, and Chile, providing strategic guidance and structure to the non profit organization.
